Benjamin Cisterne is a specialist lighting designer and Director of Benjamin Cisterne Design Pty Ltd — a consultancy dedicated to museums, galleries, exhibitions, and cultural institutions, with parallel expertise in live performance lighting design. With more than 25 years' experience, Benjamin's practice is grounded in a sophisticated understanding of light as both a technical system and a critical component of spatial, interpretive, and cultural expression.

Since founding Benjamin Cisterne Design in 2011, Benjamin has led the design and delivery of lighting for major institutional projects across Australia and internationally. The practice provides end-to-end lighting services including concept development, technical design, documentation, specification, prototyping, site attendance, and commissioning. BCD is particularly recognised for its expertise in exhibition and showcase lighting, conservation-sensitive environments, interpretive and narrative-driven spaces, and the integration of contemporary control and interactive systems.

Benjamin is frequently engaged on projects where precision, judgement, and long-term operational performance are critical.
